It shouldn't be easier to get permission to build a block of flats than it is to get a Cisk at a kazin.
I have mixed feelings with this idea. I do agree with sustainable development but the fact that Mepa are giving out more building permits it helps to create more work. More permits is the result of more demand and more work to builders and all the sectors related. What government needs to do is to ensure that at least permits are not given on rural land so that recreational land is preserved like Manoel Island for example.
To clarify; I did not say stop but rather, control. Just because something creates jobs in the short term, it doesn't make it sustainable and the right choice. There are permits, and permits- permits for renovation, sustainable development etc create jobs too :)
