A PN government should take immediate steps to introduce insulin pumps for all type 1 patients, and this includes 24hour support. While insulin pumps are the norm in all EU countries, here diabetes patients need to inject themselves regularly from four to six times a day. Also, an insulin pump ensure better control of the disease. Ultimately, better control of blood glucose levels will lead to less micro and macro-vascular complications in the future. This will reduce morbidity and mortality.
My son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was 16, he has to inject himself 5 times daily, sometimes it is difficult to check his blood glucose levels, an insulin pump will work much better for him.
