It has been slow, but some Community Batteries come to Menzies in 2025! EVERY STREET should have one! They are a SOLAR SPONGE to Soak up excess KW that may be exported to other homes. Feed in tariffs near ZERO, it is great to Store your excess KW in the Battery & draw it out After Dark! These batteries Located in Parks, can service about 100 HOUSES. Some solar PV Produce enough KW pa that the house 😀 Consumes in a year but much of it is exported. Batteries allow more KW to be USED in HOUSE!
I'm very keen to see how we manage the community battery idea. If we can generate, store, and consume energy locally, we'll avoid a lot of the usual loss in transmission wires. Who will develop, own, maintain, and administer community batteries? Will they be connected to each other, or will each be an island
