Using gasometers (large, variable-volume storage tanks) for compressed air energy storage and power generation could provide a novel way to generate electricity. 2. Key Advantages of This System ✅ Simple Mechanical Design – Uses existing gasometer infrastructure with modifications. ✅ Uses Gravity for Energy Transfer – Reduces reliance on complex compression systems. ✅ Renewable Energy Integration – Solar or wind energy assists with system recharging.
Hard to acheive in our local area, but is perhaps a technology that should be added to a broader education piece about sustainable energy sources (the way they work, limitations, operation style, fuel style, lifetime etc) in our schools and local info campaigns or websites
We have a problem as we transition away from Coal because the renewables or nuclear will not be ready for some time. We should have kept the coal power stations modern or replaced some but now it looks too late for that. So these are the kinds of ideas we need for the interim period until either Renewables or Nuclear take over.
